Berners Tavern at The London Edition Hotel

Having heard amazing things about Berners Tavern, I desperately wanted to check it out, so Hannah and I decided to head there for breakfast one Sunday morning.

First of all just look at the room! It's gorgeous. With retro booths, amazing (almost) floor to ceiling windows, huge chandeliers and hundreds of framed pictures lining the walls, this was just our sort of place.

Just look at how beautiful it is!

I shunned my usual choice of pancakes and decided to be adventurous by ordering the waffles - living life on the edge, I know! It came with caramelised banana and maple syrup, and it was absolutely delicious. Seriously, I cannot recommend it enough: it was piping hot, crunchy on the outside and soft and squidgey in the middle, and the banana was the perfect addition.

As you can see, we also shared a selection of danish pastries because we are pigs and we just couldn't help ourselves. These too were fresh, crisp and just all kinds of yummy.

A full table!

Hannah ordered Eggs Royale. They were pretty tasty, but not particularly special. As you can see from the photo below, they were a bit plain and a little bit of garnishing wouldn't have hurt. She definitely had a case of food envy!

Overall, the food was very good, but it was really the decor and the atmosphere that set Berners Tavern apart from other breakfast places we've tried. We'll definitely be back to try out the bar and the evening menu, but this would be a great option if you're looking for a swanky meal to celebrate something special.
