As yesterday was a public holiday in Malaysia, we decided on a bit of a special lunch. Iketeru has always been a firm favourite of mine - really good quality Japanese food, generous portions, and friendly staff, although it is somewhat on the pricey side.
We started off with a selection of sashimi - salmon, yellowtail and the real star of the show… lobster! It was all delicious: the slices were just the right size and the texture creamy. Yum!

It was then time for the dragon maki, which was filled with minced crab leg, avocado and lettuce, and topped with a tender slice of eel. While it tasted lovely, I have to say that the slices were a little to large, making them difficult to eat without getting the rice/eel/filling all over the place.

We ended with a soup which was made from the head of the lobster we'd eaten earlier and some miso. It was extremely yummy, although I felt they could have added in some tofu or something along those lines to pad it out.

Finally, even though I was very full by this stage, I had to have some dessert. I went for green tea ice cream with chopped melon & dragonfruit on the side. I loved the ice cream - it wasn't too sweet and was very creamy with a little 'nutty' hint of roasted green tea. Perfect!

As I mentioned at the start of this blog post, Iketeru isn't cheap. However, if you want to celebrate a special occasion and everyone at the table appreciates good Japanese food (especially good sashimi and sushi) it is well worth the trip.
