My usual order is roti canai, which, for those of you who aren't Malaysian, is a type of bread made out of clarified butter, flour and water (sounds healthy, I know!) and looks a bit like naan. At Ravi's, the roti canai is crispy on the outside but softer on the inside, and is served hot and fluffy - perfect!
Roti Canai - as you can see, it is served (rather authentically!) on a banana leaf |
Roti canai is eaten with curry - typically chicken or fish.

Being the greedy person that I am, I decided to also have roti telur, or eggy bread.
Roti Telur. This is also eaten with curry. |
Finally, we had the sotong goreng (fried squid). This is highly recommended - the squid rings are delicately cut and deep fried in a tasty & slightly spicy batter. Yum!

As you can tell, I am a fan of the food at Ravi's - it is simple yet well-cooked and delicious. In terms of the atmosphere, it is always pretty busy (though you shouldn't have to wait too long for a seat, even during the busiest periods) and my favourite time to go is early (by 8am) on weekend mornings because the cool weather makes sitting outside so pleasant.
